I have been painting outdoors for some time, and the past several years it is the main focus of my work. My original training was at the University of Minnesota, where I earned a B.F.A. degree. I also spent four years at the Bougie Studio, where I learned the methods of traditional painting. This is also where I started painting outdoors (plein air). I also do still life and portraiture. It is a wonderful experience to find the subtlety and beauty in the seemingly commonplace, whether around the country or in my own back yard. The modern world moves so fast, it is refreshing and inspiring to stop and appreciate that there is beauty to be found everywhere you look.
